AIU provisionally suspends Kenyan marathoner Ronald Korir
The Athletics Integrity Unit cites an Athlete Biological Passport case; no final decision has been made.

In short: The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on 13 October 2026 that it had provisionally suspended Kenyan marathoner Ronald Kipkoech Korir "for Use of a Prohibited Substance/Method (ABP case)". A provisional suspension bars him from competing until his case is decided.
The Athletics Integrity Unit said on Tuesday 13 October: "The AIU has provisionally suspended Ronald Kipkoech Korir (Kenya) for Use of a Prohibited Substance/Method (ABP case)." The Eastleigh Voice and K24 Digital reported the announcement.
ABP stands for Athlete Biological Passport, which tracks an athlete's blood and other markers over time. A provisional suspension means Korir cannot compete while his case goes through the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules process. It is not a final finding.
Korir, 35, finished fourth at the 2023 Berlin Marathon in 2:04:22 and fourth at the 2024 Hamburg Marathon, AFP reports.
The announcement came a week after World Anti-Doping Agency president Witold Bańka ended a three-day visit to Kenya, where he met President William Ruto and the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya. "Every home has to have a good host and has to be clean to be credible," Bańka told the BBC, as Nairobi prepares to host the 2029 World Championships.
